Every displayed business retains source evidence. Raw source records are separate from the normalised business, and repeat imports use source/version idempotency keys.

One physical business
Phone, domain, Eircode, address, distance, name and category evidence are combined conservatively. Uncertain matches enter manual review and do not inflate demand counts.
Explainable demand
The selected business type and its wider market are checked separately. A rare Turkish restaurant, for example, is also judged against all nearby restaurants. Population, Irish business trends and relevant events are then added. Missing signals reduce confidence.
Query-time interpretation adapter
Wikidata ↗: product and equipment labels, aliases and short descriptions are requested only when a user searches. Structured Wikidata data is available under CC0. A knowledge match helps identify the product family; it never confirms stock at an Irish business.
Wikipedia ↗: a short public page summary is used as a server-side fallback when Wikidata returns no entity. It can explain a product class, but it cannot prove local inventory.
Fallback: if the knowledge adapter is unavailable or has no reliable entity, the request continues through the local taxonomy interpreter. The external source cannot block business retrieval or create inventory claims.
